I understand where you are coming from but there is a reason why the Omega’s are expensive, it’s because someone designs the watch, researches new technology like Co-Axial automatic movements, assembles them and then markets them.The products used to make these watches can not be compared to that of fakes. I own an original limited edition bond Seamaster. The differences to look at might be minimal, but the feel of the genuine watch in your hand and when its on your wrist can never be mistaken,

As Ryan Rooney noted here in his blog, its generally acknowledged that the Omega mid-500 series chronometer calibres (551, 561, 564 and 751) were the finest family of production movements ever made. He also identified the movement serial numbers that were part of one of the most famous events in production watch history the straight run of one hundred thousand certified chronometers.

The Omega Speedmaster is an icon. It is also one of the few classical mechanical chronographs in the world. Other brands (Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, A. Lange & Söhne) have them also but only in precious metals that will set you back 40.000 + USD.

I hope Omega will put this movement in the De Ville series, which would be great for people who, like me, appreciate a polished steel case better. So fingers crossed that it will ever happen!

@breitlingsource You both are correct! Omegas still come with the red dot when bought new but when serviced at an Omega service center it will come back with the blue dot. Although if you give your watch a polish or really wear it, it tends to rub off.
